During the evening called'La Valle d'Aosta in Giro', held on Friday 29 April at the Splendor Theater in Aosta, the Società Ciclistica Valdostana unveiled the details of the 5 stages that will mark out the 58th Giro Ciclistico Internazionale della Valle d'Aosta - Mont Blanc, planned from the 13th to the 17th of July 2022.
The Grand Départ will be on french routes on the 13th of July with both the start and finish line in Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc: it is a 82km stage with a fast circuit around Passy that the riders will repeat four times, then Le Bettex climb and the finish line in Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc.
The following day (14th of July) the race will go back to Aosta Valley with a stage whose start and finish line will be in Saint-Christophe. It will be again a short stage (124,5 km) with short hills before the KOMs of Jeanceyaz and Grand Brissogne.
The third stage (15th of July) will start from Aosta and will be 138,8 km long. There will be four KOMs (Doues, Verrogne, Echarlod and Col d'Introd) during this stage that is suitable for finisseurs riders. The finish line will again be in Aosta.
On Saturday the 16th of July the queen stage of the Giro VdA 2022 will start from Pont-Saint-Martin and finish after 173,8 km in Fontainemore. After a fast section towards Montjovet at the beginning of the race the riders will climb Col d'Arlaz, Col Tsecore and Col de Joux. Before the final climb of Plan Coumarial (1445 m of altitude) there will be the short but steep climbs of Perloz and Fabiole.
The last stage of the Giro VdA 2022 will be the classic Valtournenche - Breuil Cervinia (119,7 km). The asperities of the day will be Verrayes climb and Col Saint-Pantaléon, without forgetting the last ascent towards Breuil Cervinia.
«After the edition of the restart we are glad to reintroduce 5 stages with a high quality starting list» - stated Riccardo Moret, president of the Società Ciclistica Valdostana - «The 2021 edition passed with succes the examination of the UCI, despite the all known difficulties due to the COVID procedures. We look forward to the 2022 with satisfaction, we had lots of participation applications so we think we are on the right path.»
The Società Ciclistica Valdostana, organizer of the 58th Giro Ciclistico Internazionale della Valle d'Aosta - Mont Blanc, is ready to officialise the list of the invited teams at the forthcoming Petit Tour. 16 countries will be represented by 32 teams that will show off from the 13th to the 17th of July 2022. «The selection process was really difficult because of the +70 applications from all over the world, however it allowed us to line up the best U23 teams of the moment. We are glad to have the Italian National Team back at the start.» - stated Riccardo Moret, president of the organizing commitee.

The Società Ciclistica Valdostana is glad to announce the cities that will host the 58th Giro Ciclistico Internazionale della Valle d'Aosta Mont-Blanc. The Under 23 race will go back to its original format in 2022 being developed over 5 days with the Gran Départ in France. The route still needs to be sorted out but the organizing committee has the pleasure to present the official 5 stages start and finish locations. Just like the past edition, the race will entirely be broadcasted live on our official channels.
«The Giro della Valle d'Aosta will challenge the riders with 5 stages, becoming international again thanks to the Saint Gervais stage.» - stated the president of the Società Ciclistica Valdostana Riccardo Moret - «We are particularly proud of this and we will take on the 2022 edition with a spirit of optimism, hoping to leave behind the uncertainty caused by the pandemic that influenced the entire sport world and hoping to return to the traditional six stage as soon as possible.»
