The queen stage of the 57° Giro Ciclistico Internazionale della Valle d'Aosta - Mont Blanc started this morning with the sun shining and the astonishing views of the mountains over Valtournenche. Fast start from the km 0 in Antey Saint André, at the bottom of the descent in Chatillon the peloton moves towards the first KOM of the day (Perloz). Georg Steinhauser (Tirol KTM) takes the first sprint catch in Arnad. The breakaway is always controlled by the peloton as the local rider Laurent Rigollet (LAN Service) transit first in Perloz. After the descent the british Lewis Askey (Groupama FDJ) wins the sprint catch and the race goes up the Col d'Arlaz. The classification is the following: Robin Skivild (Uno X-Dare Development Team), con Mattia Guasco (Team Qhubeka) and Pau Miguel Delgado (Lizarte). The descent and the following climb of the Col Tsecore changes the situation in the front: Garofoli starts its work with the win in his head and legs. After 50 km of solo breakaway he is the first under the finish line, 1'31'' ahead of his chasers. Behind him come Mattia Petrucci (Team Colpack Ballan) and Florian Lipowitz (Tirol KTM). Fourth is the new zelandeer Reuben Thompson (Groupama FDJ) that becomes the new yellow jersey. The top 5 is closed by the belgian Henri Vandenabeele (Developmente Team DSM). Yesterday's yellow jersey Alessandro Verre (Team Colpack Ballan) has 25' of delay. After the second day Thompson wears tre jersey (yellow, white and polka dot) and the red one stays on Robin Orins (Acrog Tormans) shoulders. Tomorrow is the big day as the first height riders of the GC are within 6 minutes.
