Prologue: SAINT-GERVAIS MONT-BLANC / SAINT-NICOLAS DE VÉROCE
The first winner of the 55th Giro Internazionale della Valle d'Aosta - Mont Blanc is the Danish Jonas Vingegaard, who got the win on a warm sunny day along the 7.9 km of the prologue from Saint Gervais Mont-Blanc to Saint Nicola de Veroce, scoring a time of 16'36''78. Stage win and leader jersey for the Danish rider of the National Team, who's managed this climb in the best way possible. In second place the South African Stefan De Bod (Dimension Data for Qhubeka), 6''56 away, always at ease in the time trials. Third place for the British Mark Donovan (Team Wiggins), already fourth during this season in the final classification of the Giro d'Italia Under 23. Important to emphasize the excellent fourth place for Matteo Bellia, young rider of the IAM Excelsior Team. The bigs, therefore, did not hide and the pretenders to the final victory immediately tried to give a precise address to the general classification. Tomorrow the 125 riders of the Giro della Valle d'Aosta (representing 20 countries) will return to Italy with the first inline stage Rhemes Saint Georges - Rhemes Notre Dame, with the Colle San Carlo as the main climb.
