Stage 2: COURMAYEUR / PONT-SAINT-MARTIN
Edward Ravasi left alone at the top of the peloton during the second stage of Giro della Valle d'Aosta, Courmayeur - Pont-Saint-Martin, for more than 40 kilometres. Then at 3 to go has been chased by the Norwegian Odd-Christian Eiking, second in the Petit Tour GC in 2014. It's the Scandinavian, in a better shape, to reach as first the finish line of Pont: much better then yesterday, when he lost so much time.
Robert Power keeps the yellow jersey: his team, as well as it happened yesterday in Morillon, played a fantastic strategy, even though they did not keep the GC leader in the front: Eiking escaped during the last climb to Perloz closing onto Ravasi, who, not only had the mockery for the vanished victory, but also he did not close the gap on the Aussie.
Odd-Christian Eiking, exhausted on the finish line, said: «This is my first international victory, that's why I'm so happy. I didn't expect this final, especially since I gave my all but the line was still so far away!».

Stage 2: COURMAYEUR / PONT-SAINT-MARTIN
From Thursday 16th July the race will move to the Aosta Valley for a stage that will go through the whole central valley; 151 Km from the new Courmayeur cablecar parking, inaugurated last Saturday, to Pont Saint Martin, the Società Ciclistica Valdostana cradle. During the way the race will pass the Col d'Introd, the climb to Saint-Barthélemy - recently passed by the Giro d'Italia - the spurt to Verrayes and, finally, the climbs to Col d'Arlaz - from Montjovet - and to Perloz, that could act as a springboard for riders able to attempt a sudden attack.
