52th TOUR OF VALLE D'AOSTA / MONT BLANC 2015: THE STAGES
Six days of race, 709 Km, a total ascent of more than 14.000 mt, are these some numbers of the 2015 Giro della Valle d'Aosta, presented yesterday evening - Wednesday 3rd June - at St. Vincent Resort & Casinò. The first edition of the new president, Riccardo Moret, was unveiled during a press conference with the presence of Aurelio Marguerettaz, regional assessor of the sport, and many mayors of towns hosting this 52nd edition of the Giro.
«We are very satisfied of work we have done till now and we are aware that before 14th July, starting day of the race, we have many things still to do" - Riccardo Moret said during the press conference. "In November 2014, when we appointed the new Directorate, we set our goal of running three stages in Aosta Valley. Working hard and fully supported by public and private sponsors, we have been able to do better by putting in place four stages; with the other two racing days set by our French partners, it means six racing days like we were used in the past. I'm sure that the success of the race won't be only the organization quality, I'm sure it will run perfectly, but also the starting list: as usual the world leading figures of under 23 cyclists will be present; this is the ideal proscenium before going professional; it is not a case if 58 racers finishing the last Giro d'Italia were present in our race in the past».
Aurelio Marguerettaz highlighted «the importance of this race that reached the heart of all cycling aficionados; the effort put in place by the new directorate of Società Ciclistica Valdostana will achieve results also for developing tourism. The Giro della Valle d’Aosta is a resource for the entire Region and a not insignificant promotional vehicle; it is enough to see how many times it was mentioned during last Giro d'Italia thanks to Fabio Aru, two time winner in the past on the Aosta Valley roads.».
